Practice
Michael Shannon conducts a trial practice in the field of medical malpractice and personal injury for people who have been seriously injured. Representing both adults and children, his practice areas include personal injury and deaths involving car accidents, medical (health care) malpractice, slip and falls, product liability, aviation and occupier liability and acting for people who have had their long term disability, travel insurance and life insurance claims wrongly denied. Michael has recovered in excess of $100 million on behalf of his clients.

Certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a specialist in the area of civil litigation, Michael is recognized by Lexpert®, The Best Lawyers in Canada and Martindale-Hubbell and is consistently recommended as one of the leading practitioners in the area of personal injury law.

He is a past Trustee of the Toronto Lawyers Association, past Member of Council of the Canadian Bar Association – Ontario, past Delegate for the Province of Ontario for the American Association for Justice and past member of the Student Advisory Committee for the American Association for Justice.

In 2008, Michael was the recipient of the Volunteer Tribute Award from the Canadian Paraplegic Association Ontario. He was the recipient of the 2006 Outstanding Volunteer Support from the Canadian Paraplegic Association Ontario and in 2004 the Distinguished Service Award from the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. He was the Chair of the Annual Toronto Wheelchair Relay for the Canadian Paraplegic Association Ontario for a number of years during which time over $2,000,000 was raised.
